Singhvi defends Rahul's trip to Bangkok

Rahul Gandhi's trip to Bangkok, days before Haryana and Maharashtra elections has raised many eyebrows as the party is experiencing internal conflicts. Party spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi, however, defended Rahul Gandhi, tweeting- "the personal should not be mixed with the public life of an individual".

New Delhi: Amid reports of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's Bangkok visit, party spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi, on Sunday, defended Rahul Gandhi's trip to Bangkok.

Abhishek Manu Singhvi tweeted about Rahul Gandhi's trip, saying that "the personal should not be mixed with the public life of an individual".

"We need to entitle everybody an eternal sense of liberty and privacy. After all, this is the basic and outlining principle of progressive and liberal democracy," Singhvi added.

With Haryana and Maharashtra elections soon to be approaching, Rahul Gandhi's trip on October 5 has raised many eyebrows.

At this time, the Congress party is experiencing internal turmoil as several senior leaders of the party resigned recently.

Former Haryana Congress President Ashok Tanwar resigned from the party on Saturday alleging that the senior politicians in the party are specifically sidelining those groomed by Rahul Gandhi.

Meanwhile, in Maharashtra, Congress leader Sanjay Nirupam also echoed the same opinion.

Both Haryana and Maharashtra will go to polls on October 21 and results for the assembly elections will be announced on October 24.
