Shooter Shreyasi Singh joins BJP ahead of Bihar polls

Ahead of Bihar elections, shooter Shreyasi Singh, daughter of former union minister late Digvijay Singh has joined the Bhartiya Janata Party. Singh said that she will contest in the polls but the final call on the constituency has not been taken.

New Delhi: Shooter Shreyasi Singh, daughter of former union minister late Digvijay Singh, on Sunday joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the presence of party leader Bhupendra Yadav. Other senior BJP leaders were also present on the occasion.

Singh said that the main motive behind joining the party is to fulfil the dream of her father late Digvijay Singh. She is expected to be the party’s candidate either from Amarpur (Banka) or Jamui, depending on the seat-sharing with alliance partners. LJP national president Chirag Paswan represents the Jamui parliamentary constituency currently.

"With the blessing of my mother and elder sister today I accept the membership of BJP. The main motive in joining the party is to fulfil my father's dream," Singh said.

She added, "I am inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of Atamnirbhar Bharat. I am impressed with the work done by our PM in the last six years. I will work on this path to strengthen Bihar.

She also requested everyone to observe a few seconds of silence in memory of her late father.

Shreyasi said that she will contest in the upcoming Bihar assembly elections, however, the constituency is yet to be decided. Our family's political ideology is very much similar to that of BJP which prompted me to join the saffron party.

Talking about JD(U) and BJP alliance, she said, "BJP and JD(U) are alliance partners in the Bihar elections and I will also support Nitish Kumar's party.
