The students circulated photos claiming that the police closed all the gates of the JNU.

Roads leading to the JNU have also been closed for the traffic, the traffic police said.

Baba Gangnath Marg is closed for vehicular traffic due to students' protest and the long march, the Delhi Traffic Police said.

The Students are protesting to roll back the new hostel charges, namely service charges and utility charges.

Since the varsity has cited fund shortage for the hostel fee hike, the University Grants Commission will be asked to step in to restore the University funding and the hostel staff expenses can be adjusted against non-teaching vacancies from next year.

Earlier they (students) have marched to Sansad Bhawan on the first day of the winter session.
