The apex court will consider UNHRC reports regarding measures for migrant workers. In its last hearing, SC had passed directions to make adequate provisions for drinking water, food, shelter and medicine.

New Delhi: Advocate Alakh Alok Srivastava, one of the petitioners who had filed a PIL seeking measures to be taken in favour of migrant workers, informed the Supreme court today that the United Nations Human Rights Commission (UNHRC) has appreciated the orders passed by our Supreme Court and has suggested further measures for migrant workers.

The court adjourned the matter for hearing after two weeks and during this time it will consider UNHRC reports along with the petitioner's application.

Srivastava had moved to the Supreme Court seeking transportation, basic amenities for 1000s of workers who were forced to walk hundreds of kilometres to reach home.

In its last hearing, the Supreme Court had passed directions to make adequate provisions for drinking water, food, shelters, water, beds, medicines.
