New Delhi: The Supreme Court today issued notice on plea filed by Goa's Congress president, Girish Chodankar, who sought directions to expedite the decision on the party's 10 MLAs who had joined BJP. The matter has been pending before the Speaker of Goa Legislative Assembly since August last year.
Last year in August, Chodankar had filed a petition before the Assembly's speaker seeking restraintnment on its former 10 MLAs from attending assembly proceedings and holding their constitutional posts till the speaker takes a decision.
On 10 July,2019, 10 congress MLAs had resigned and joined BJP claiming split in congress, after which congress wanted them to be disqualified.
The matter has been pending, reportedly due to the lockdown.
