SC initiates contempt proceedings against Advocate Prashant Bhushan for his tweets

The Supreme Court has initiated contempt of court proceedings by taking suo moto cognizance against Advocate Prashant Bhushan for his tweets. A bench of Justice Arun Mishra, Justice BR Gavai and Justice Krishna Murari will hear the matter on July 22.

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Tuesday has taken suo moto cognizance against Advocate Prashant Bhushan allegedly for his tweets against the apex court causing contempt of court.

The matter is listed for hearing on Wednesday before the bench comprising of Justice Arun Mishra, Justice BR Gavai and Justice Krishna Murari.

Bhushan is quite vocal on micro-blogging site Twitter regarding his negative views about the top court's certain decisions and has also been pulled up by the court for it during a hearing where he was asked on why he approaches the court if he does not have faith in the institution.
