New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Friday asked the Andhra Pradesh Election Commissioner, represented by Sr Adv Harish Salve, to submit an affidavit within a week on his claims that the Andhra Pradesh High Court judges have been abused on Twitter for their judgement on restoring N Ramesh Kumar as SEC.
Salve informed the court that the officer made extremely ill-conceived tweets which stated that "judges of the AP High Court should be locked up with the COVID patients".
Lashing out further, Salve said that even in such case the state of Andhra Pradesh "had audacity to seek a stay?"

The bench led by the Chief Justice of India, SA Bobde, was hearing a petition filed by AP government challenging and seeking a stay on the HC's judgement of striking down the ordinance which reduced the tenure of an SEC from 5 years to 3 years and thereby removal Kumar.
The HC had also ordered reinstating Kumar for completion of his tenure. Retired Madras HC judge, Justice V Kanagaraj was appointed in his place as the new SEC by the state and the HC order is not complied with.
The AP government in April brought an Ordinance curtailing the tenure of the SEC by which Ramesh Kumar ceased to continue as the SEC and appointed retired Justice V Kanagaraj in the position.
