New Delhi: Amid protests in the country over Citizenship (Amendment) Act, Member of Parliament and Shiv Sena leader Arvind Sawant on Friday said that people don't know about anything about Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and are protesting by forming a human chain.
While talking to ETV Bharat, Sawant said, "India is democratic. If people want to protest it's their will, just they should not divide India or harm its integrity "
On asking why Shiv Sena is not supporting their allies in the anti-CAA rally, he said," In Maharashtra, the government 'Maha Vikas Aghadi' is made as per Common Minimum Programme (CMP). Every party has its own ideologies and we can't every time ask each other what to do and what not to do. "
Sawant said that Shiv Sena's main aim is to do whatever is good for Maharashtra, whether it is done by their own party or someone in opposition.
Referring to Delhi assembly polls, Sawant said, "Election results will decide what has Delhi decided and who they support. "
He added, "Few people want violence and riot in our country. But, my question is what is the result of the protests. Are the citizens happy? Unemployment, farmer suicides and many other issues are there to be solved."
"Shiv Sena always supports whoever is right, it doesn't matter whether we are in alliance with BJP or not. Our ideology is different, we support the truth," Sawant said.
