New Delhi: A number of Hindu families from Pakistan, sheltered in a refugee camp in the national capital, have been supplied with groceries and other basic life saving items by some NGOs and individuals in view of the on-going lockdown to deal with coronavirus pandemic.
In this camp, situated in Rohini area of the city, over 100 families live and survive on daily wages. They were in a crisis ever since Prime Minister Narendra modi announced a 21-day lockdown to deal with the deadly disease of coronavirus, which has killed thousands of people across the world.
They lost their jobs in the curfew-like situation, and it was becoming difficult to survive with no money and other resources with each passing day when these NGOs and individuals came forward to help.
The NGOs and others involved in the act also educated them about the coronavirus crisis, asking them to follow the government guidelines.
There are several camps in the national capital for families like these who shifted to India few years ago alleging that Pakistan was not treating them well as it would discriminate on the basis of religion.
In absence of proper documents, which the migrated Hindu families from the neighbouring country should be getting soon as the centre has got the citizenship act amended a few months ago, no government help could reach them.
A large number of people, who work as daily wagers, are being provided help by the state government.
