Hyderabad: August 5 has seemingly become an 'auspicious' day for the Narendra Modi-led NDA government, as it has taken a few major decisions on this particular date. With the 'bhoomi poojan' of the Ayodhya Ram Temple set to take place on the same date, it is hoped that the development finally brings to an end the centuries-old dispute.

August 5, 2020 will hopefully mark the end of a dispute of over 500-years. The country has seen several instances of violence and division over the issue. Following the Supreme Court verdict, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will participate in the Bhoomi Poojan and foundation laying ceremony for the Ram Temple in Ayodhya on August 5. Though the date and timing of the religious ritual have been decided according to the Vedic process, the BJP will continue to believe that August 5 has been auspicious for the party.

In what it called a 'historic move', the Narendra Modi government revoked the special status to the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir under Article 370 of the Constitution on August 5, 2019. The erstwhile state was split into two Union Territories - Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. With the move, the BJP realised its dream of 'One Nation, One Constitution'.

Why was August 5 decided as the date? It may be a coincidence, but from the support the BJP claims to have got from the people of the country, the date could be considered auspicious for the party.

The name of Mughalsarai Railway Station in Chandauli district of Uttar Pradesh, which is the large railway yard in Asia, was officially changed to Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Railway station on August 5, 2018. The proposal to change the name of the station was sent to the Centre after the formation of the Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh.
