Rahul Gandhi, former US diplomat Nicholas Burns to discuss global fallout of COVID-19 pandemic

Congress MP and former party chief Rahul Gandhi will be holding an interactive session with former US diplomat Nicholas Burns on Friday to discuss “How the Covid-19 crisis is reshaping the world order”.

New Delhi: Congress party will release the latest episode of 'Conversations with Rahul Gandhi', featuring former US Diplomat, Nicholas Burns to discuss about "how the COVID-19 crisis is reshaping the world order".

Nicholas Burns, who is currently a Professor in Harvard Kennedy School, was the United States Under Secretary for Political Affairs. He was also the Chief Negotiator of India-US nuclear deal.

The Conversation will be released by Congress party on Friday, at 10 am, which will be available on the social media platforms of Rahul Gandhi.

"Tomorrow, Friday, 12th June, 10 AM onward, join my conversation with Ambassador Nicholas burns on how the COVID scissors reshaping the world order across all my social media platforms," said Gandhi in his tweet.

This comes a week after the Congress MP held a discussion with Managing Director of Bajaj Auto, Rajiv Bajaj regarding the impact of the pandemic over Indian economy.

In the promo video released by Congress, Rahul Gandhi said, "Looking at the US history, one doesn't expect regional idea, but the Global idea from it", to which Burns replied, "That's a big Idea itself. We are not looking for a conflict with China, but waging a battle of ideas with China."

A statement issued by Congress spokesperson, Randeep Singh Surjewala stated, "The freewheeling conversation between Mr Gandhi and Ambassador Burns covers a wide range of issues including racism in the United States and the flash point created by George Floyd's killing, the reshaping of world order, in the wake of COVID-19 crisis, the future of Indo-US relations and the key role played by Indian diaspora in US in building it, the Clash of ideologies an authoritarian China vs a democratic United States and India."
