New Delhi: Congress party's General Secretary, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, in a video message, appealed to the Uttar Pradesh Government to help the stranded migrant workers during the national lockdown, by making arrangements to return them back to their respective districts.

While explaining about the plight of these migrant labourers, the Congress leader also got emotional in her video message. She said, "For several days, I'm talking to the migrant labourers of UP who have been stranded in various areas, including Rajasthan, Delhi, Surat, Indore, Bhopal, Mumbai among others. They came to these cities to some earn money from labour work. But due to lockdown, their workplaces got closed, they got stranded, and now even their ration is not much left."

She further added, "At many places, 6-8 people are locked in one single room, not being able to go outside. They don't have enough ration to survive. They are so terrified that they just want to go home. We can't blame them for that. We need to find a solution to their problems."

She asserted that the responsibility of these migrant labourers lies with UP Government, irrespective of the region or state where they have been stranded. "We cannot leave them like this," she urged.
