New Delhi: A Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) student has alleged that Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi, who visited All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) to meet injured students of the university, went there to meet only a particular group of students.
"She had come to the hospital to meet the injured students. I also tried to tell her my story as to how I got injured and who all were involved in the attack but she ignored me and moved away," Shivam, one of the injured students of the university in the January five violent incident, told ETV Bharat here.He said as he heard about her visit to the hospital, he met the Congress leader and started sharing his story."I was trying to show her how was I hit on my back but she left without saying anything to me," he said, adding that this could be seen in the video that has gone viral.
On being asked if had told her that he was associated with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), a students wing of the BJP, Shivam said he did not tell her about it.
"I may not have told her anything about the fact that I was from the ABVP. I thought she is a political leader of the country would meet and interact with everyone injured but it was not the case. She, as I was telling her how students belonging to Left had hit me, must have realised that I was not from the camp that she had come to meet with," he said.
"That could be the reason," Shivam asserted, saying he realised it later that she was not there to meet all the injured JNU students but a selected few.
On January 5, there was a violent attack on students of the university. Several students have got injured critically. It was alleged that a group of outsiders, with their faces covered, attacked the students.
Meanwhile, students affiliated to the ABVP on one side and the various Left-leaning student organisations, such as the Student Federation of India (SFI), All India Student Federation (AISF) and Democratic Students' Union (DSU), on the other have blamed each other for the violence.
