Srinagar: An employee of Jammu and Kashmir Power Development Corporation (JKPDC) was electrocuted on Saturday when he was restoring the power supply for the houses of the locals in north Kashmir's Kupwara district. According to sources, the employee was not wearing any safety kit and climbed to the top of the electric pole and came in contact with the high-tension wire.
The employee was mending the damaged power transmission line amid heavy snowfall when the incident happened.
"The victim was immediately taken to the hospital but the doctors declared him dead on arrival," an official said.
In one of the viral videos, PDC employees can be seen braving all odds to restore the power supply of the houses and it has garnered praises and also corners from people of the region.
Officials said that a probe will be conducted into the incident. A Covid-19 test will also be done on the body after which it will be handed over to the family.
