Paswan meets Brazilian delegation; discuss market access to Indian goods

Consumer Affairs Minister Ram Vilas Paswan met Brazilian delegation on agriculture and discussed issues including market access to Indian goods. Besides, both countries agreed to work together in areas related to blending ethanol with petroleum in order to curb climate change.

New Delhi: Union Consumer Affairs Minister Ram Vilas Paswan met a Brazilian delegation led by Union Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Tereza Christina on Saturday and held talks on various bilateral issues including foodgrain subsidies, international trade of livestock and market access to Indian goods.

Paswan, while highlighting the measures taken by the Government of India to ensure food security of its citizens, informed that around 800 million people in the country are currently covered under the targeted public distribution system through which food grains are distributed at highly subsidised prices.

"The relationship between India and Brazil is quite old. Sugar production is quite high in Brazil. We held a detailed discussion on technology exchange. The Brazilian Prime Minister has been invited as the chief guest at the Republic Day celebrations." Paswan said.

The Consumer affairs minister also requested the Brazilian delegation to consider approving market access to Indian goods in Brazil as a similar measure, particularly for corn seeds and onions for which the request has been pending since 2012.

Besides, both countries agreed to work together in areas related to blending ethanol with petroleum in order to curb climate change.

India and Brazil will ink over 15 agreements and launch a plan of action for the strategic partnership between the two countries during Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro's republic day visit.

During the visit, Bolsonaro will meet President Ram Nath Kovind -- who will host a banquet at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in his honour -- and hold talks with PM Modi. Vice President Venkaiah Naidu and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will call on President Bolsonaro.

नयी दिल्ली- केंद्रीय उपभोक्ता मामले खाद्य एवं सार्वजनिक वितरण मंत्री रामविलास पासवान से उनके आवास 12 जनपथ पर ब्राजील की कृषि, पशुधन और आपूर्ति मंत्री टेरेजा क्रिस्टीना ने एक प्रतिनिधिमंडल के साथ मुलाकात की, बैठक करीब 1 घंटे तक चली, बैठक में कई मुद्दों कई पर चर्चा हुई.


Body:रामविलास पासवान ने भारत सरकार के द्वारा अपने नागरिकों की खाद्य सुरक्षा का समाधान सुनिश्चित करने के लिए किए गए उपायों पर प्रकाश डालते हुए सूचित किया कि देश में लगभग 800 मिलियन लोग फिलहाल लक्षित सार्वजनिक वितरण प्रणाली के अधीन कवर किए जाते हैं जिसके जरिए लाभार्थियों को भारत सरकार द्वारा अत्यधिक राजसहायता प्राप्त मूल्यों पर खाद्यान्नों का वितरण किया जाता है

रामविलास पासवान ने ब्राजील के प्रतिनिधिमंडल से अनुरोध किया कि वह समान उपाय के रूप में विशेष रूप से मक्का के बीज और प्याज के लिए ब्राजील में भारतीय वस्तुओं हेतु बाजार पहुंच मंजूर करने पर विचार करें जिसके लिए वर्ष 2012 से अनुरोध लंबित है क्योंकि भारत ने पहले ही कपास, मक्का, सोयाबीन आदि जैसी विभिन्न वस्तुओं के निर्यात के लिए ब्राजील हेतु बाजार पहुंच मंजूर कर दी है


Conclusion:टेरेजा क्रिस्टीना ने रामविलास पासवान से कहां की चीनी एवं इथेनॉल से संबंधित तकनीक, अनुसंधान में सहयोग के लिए दोनों देश एक दूसरे के अनुभवों को साझा करेंगे, पेट्रोलियम में सही अनुपात में एथेनॉल मिलाने से प्रदूषण एवं जलवायु परिवर्तन की दिशा में बेहतर कार्य किया जा सकता है
