Kathua (Jammu and Kashmir): The Border Security Force on Saturday shot down a Pakistani drone along the International Border in Jammu and Kashmir's Kathua district.

According to reports, a patrolling party of the BSF from 19 Battalion spotted a Pakistani drone flying in the Rathua area of Hiranagar sector at around 5.10 am this morning. The BSF personnel fired about nine rounds and shot down the flying object 250 metres inside Indian territory.

Senior BSF and police officers have rushed to the spot and further investigation is on.

Meanwhile, officials said Pakistani rangers fired a few rounds on Babiya post in Hiranagar sector around 8.50 am. There was no retaliation by the BSF guarding the IB, they said, adding the situation is being monitored closely.

The development comes amidst repeated ceasefire violations by Pakistan along the Line of Control (LoC).

Earlier yesterday, Pakistan violated ceasefire on the LoC in Nowshera sector of Rajouri in the morning. Later in the evening, it once again initiated unprovoked ceasefire violation along the LoC in Tangdhar sector of Kupwara.
