Bihar: With Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) demanding resignation of Bihar health minister Mangal Pandey over the deaths of more than 150 children owing to Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES) in the state, ruling Janta Dal (United) leader Sunil Pintu hit back demanding resignation of opposition leader for going 'missing' and having failed to attend the ongoing state assembly sessions.
Speaking to ETV Bharat, the Sitamarhi Lok Sabha MP launched a veiled attack on RJD leader Tejaswi Yadav and said, "so far as the opposition is concerned, they should seek an apology from the opposition leader (Tejaswi Yadav) who had gone missing all of a sudden sighting health issues and now that he has come back he is not attending the assembly. Let him resign only then can the opposition point a finger at the health minister."
Tejaswi Yadav was last seen in public after the post-poll review meeting held at his mother and former Bihar CM Rabri Devi’s 10 Circular Road residence on May 28 and went 'missing' after that.
On Saturday, Yadav took to Twitter to put an end to speculations about him going missing.
On Former Union Minister and Rashtriya Lok Samta Party (RLSP) chief Upendra Kushwaha on announcing a protest march from Muzaffarpur to Patna against the Nitish Kumar government in Bihar, Pintu said, "My personal advice to Upendra Kushwaha would be that he should use the protest march to apologise to the public since he lost the election from both the seats he had contested from."
Defending the health minister, Pintu further stated, "I don't think Mangal Pandey should resign. I admit that the deaths of so many children is sad, but at the same time, we need to appreciate the fact that more than 2,600 hundred children diagnosed with AES were treated successfully."
