Nine-year-old ties knot with presiding deity in Andhra Pradesh

A nine-year-old girl was married to the presiding deity of a temple, Lord Venkateshwara, in a grand wedding ceremony at Ananthapuram district in Andhra Pradesh. The symbolic marriage was held to honour an age-old tradition in the area.

Amaravati: A nine-year-old girl was married to Lord Venkateswara Swami in a grand wedding ceremony in Ananthapuram district in Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday to honour the age-old tradition and religious practice in the area.

It is largely believed that the girl will have a bright future considering her marriage with a divine deity.

A local priest carried out the rituals of the marriage ceremony of Padmasali, girl from the Arava Vansaham family with the Lord.

A large number of people gathered from Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh to watch the ceremony.
