Moradabad: In two identical incidents from different districts of Uttar Pradesh, newly married couples have sought police protection as they tied marital knot without the consent of their parents.

In the first case reported from Moradabad, a newly married couple has sought police help by publishing a video on social media.

The bride could be seen claiming threats from her family and saying that she got married to one Mashook Ali out of her own will but her family was threatening him and his family.

Taking note of the video, Moradabad SP, City, Ankit Mittal said the woman's father has registered a case of abduction.

"We are conducting an investigation to find out about the age of the man who has married the woman," he said, adding that police protection would be provided to the couple in case their claims were found true.

"If it is found that the couple's claim of threat from the woman's family is true then police protection will be provided to them," he added.

In a similar incident from Badaun district of the state, a video has surfaced in which a newly married woman has claimed that her family was threatening her husband and his family.

"A video is seen on social media in which a woman who has got married is requesting the police for security of her husband and his family from her family members," SSP Badaun, Ashok Kumar Tripathi said.

"We are conducting an investigation and we will get in touch with the couple to do the needful," he said.
