New Delhi: Additional teams of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have been put on standby for relief and rescue operations in Hyderabad and Telangana even as 4 teams of NDRF have been assisting the local administration in the rescue mission following heavy rains and flood.
Talking to ETV Bharat in an exclusive interview, SN Pradhan, Director General of NDRF said that the department is prepared to fight any challenges.
"We are prepared to face any kind of eventuality. Our teams in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are already helping the district administrations. If required we will fly more teams as per the requirement of the situation," said Pradhan.
Pradhan was talking on the rain and flood situation of Hyderabad and Telangana. Incessant rains and floods have created havoc in the state. More than 10 people have reportedly lost their lives in this natural calamity.
"There was a depression system that was set the day before yesterday and it had its impact since yesterday evening both in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. It entered the coast yesterday evening and because of that there have been widespread rains," said Pradhan.

He said that in some places the rains have been intense and many places have received rainfall up to 300 mm.
"There had been unprecedented water logging which held up overnight...our teams are operating round the clock along with the local administration," said Pradhan.
Quoting field report, Pradhan said that there were two incidents where 7-8 persons died due to wall collapse.
"Two persons died due to electrocution...The casualty is more than 10 now. However, rescue and relief operation is continuing," said Pradhan.
He said that NDRF is always prepared to face any natural calamity. "We have come nearly to the end of flood season. We handled flood, cyclone at the time of Covid-19...our personnel are well equipped and trained to handle the situation," Pradhan added.
