Monetary dispute over sexual relation led to death of ISRO scientist

A lab assistant has been arrested by the Hyderabad police in connection with the murder of ISRO's National Remote Sensing Centre scientist S Suresh Kumar on October 1.The lab assistant reportedly had sexual relations with the deceased and monetary dispute between them led to the crime.

Hyderabad: Hyderabad police on Friday arrested, Srinivas(39), a lab assistant in connection with the murder of ISRO's National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC) scientist S Suresh Kumar on October 1 under SR Nagar police station limits.

The lab assistant reportedly had sexual relations with the deceased and monetary dispute between them led to the crime.

Srinivas, has been arrested by the police after going through different pieces of evidence and following electric surveillance while probing the murder case.

"During preliminary investigation it was revealed that Srinivas used to visit Suresh's flat at Ameerpet frequently. After investigating blood samples, phone and call record data of the victim and accused, we arrested Srinivas. We have also recovered the murder weapon and ring of the deceased from the accused," city police commissioner, Anjani Kumar said.

"Srinivas had searched online about how to commit a murder ,"Kumar added.

According to the reports, Srinivas demanded Rs 50,000 from Suresh after engaging in an illicit relationship on September 30, the amount decided by the duo to continue the relationship but Suresh refused to pay the money. This led to a heated argument between them.

Following which, Srinivas hit Suresh with a sickle on his head and the latter died on the spot.

Suresh, a native of Kerala, was alone in his flat when the incident took place . When he did not report to the office on October 1, his colleagues called him on his mobile number. As there was no response, they alerted his wife Indira, who is a bank employee in Chennai.Suresh's wife along with some other family members rushed to Hyderabad and approached the police. They broke open the flat to find Suresh lying dead.

Suresh has been living in Hyderabad for 20 years. His wife was also working in the city but was transferred to Chennai in 2005.Their son is settled in the US while their daughter lives in Delhi.
