New Delhi: A day after Moody’s Investors Service slashed its 2020 growth projection for India from 6.6 percent to 5.4 percent, the Congress on Tuesday attacked the BJP-led NDA government alleging that it was hiding real figures concerning various issues from the people of the country.
"The government has been hiding one thing after the other from the public. It has hidden suicide figures of farmers, the truth about demonetization, GDP figures and now trying to hide poverty behind a wall," Congress spokesperson Gourav Vallabh said in a press conference here.
He said a problem would not go away just by hiding it or the government hiding itself from it.
"Poverty cannot be removed just by building a wall," he said in reference to a wall being built to hide a filthy view in Ahmedabad, where US President Donald Trump is set to visit next week.

Vallabh said by hiding things, reality would not be changed.
"You have to accept the problem first and then only you can start working to deal with it," he said.
Commenting on British MP Debbie Abrahams denied entry into India, the Congress leader said it would be appropriate to comment on the issue only after the government tells the nation why and on what ground she was not allowed to visit India.
