New Delhi: The Union Home Ministry on Monday reviewed the security scenario of West Bengal with senior officials of central paramilitary forces.

This comes days after the convoy of BJP president JP Nadda and senior BJP leader Kailash Vijayvargiya was attacked allegedly by TMC goons at Diamond Harbour in Kolkata.

The Home Ministry, however, has extended the security arrangement of Vijayvargiya and provided him with a bulletproof car.

Since Nadda enjoys Z category security cover, he was travelling in a bulletproof car whereas Vijayvargiya who enjoyed Y category security arrangements, was travelling in a normal SUV provided by the party.

Vijayvargiya, who is in-charge of West Bengal BJP, has said that the state government under the leadership of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has adopted a policy to attack opposition parties in the state.

Interestingly, the Home Ministry has asked state Chief Secretary and DGP for a meeting over the incident that took place last week.

The state government, in a letter, has expressed its inability to send two senior-most bureaucrats of the state to Delhi due to emergency work situation.

The incident that took place at Diamond Harbour has further widened the fight between the TMC and the BJP ahead of the Assembly election scheduled early next year.

Officials in the Home Ministry told ETV Bharat that the ministry is keeping a close watch on the developments in the state as Governor Jagdeep Dhankar has also expressed his displeasure over the deteriorating law and order situation of the state.

Interestingly, leader of the opposition in West Bengal Assembly Abdul Mannan called on Dhankar at Raj Bhawan and expressed serious concern on the rise of political violence in the state.
