Maulana Suhaib Qasmi expresses satisfaction over SC hearings in Ayodhya title dispute

Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind president Maulana Suhaib Qasmi has expressed satisfaction over the Supreme Court hearings in in the 70-year-old politically vexing Ayodhya title dispute. The Maulana says he would want decision to be in favour of the nation.

New Delhi: Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind president Maulana Suhaib Qasmi on Wednesday expressed satisfaction over the hearing on Ram Janmbhoomi-Babri Masjid land dispute in the Supreme Court, saying he expects a decision in favour of the whole nation.

"We are fully satisfied with the way hearings took place. The government wanted it to be expedited and the court had also fixed a deadline for the same," he said while interacting with the ETV Bharat here.

"If the court's decision on the matter is accepted by one and all, it would prove good for the society as a whole and the world would get to know how 130 crore people of India are united," he said.

Qasmi said he wanted the decision to be in favour of Indians and not in favour of any religion."I want people to celebrate the decision by distributing sweets among themselves," he added.

On being asked to comment on advocate Rajeev Dhavan's act of tearing a map inside the court, the Maulana said it wrong. "He such a senior person and must have not done it".

The Supreme Court, after hearing of 40 days reserved the judgment in the 70-year-old politically vexing Ayodhya title dispute.

A five-judge bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi began the daily hearing into the matter on August 6 after the court-appointed mediation panel, headed by a former apex court judge, failed to amicably resolve the matter.
