Malappuram (Kerala): Two students Raheez and Rameeza from Athalur village will now be able to start their online classes as their house got power connection after ten years.
The children expressed their happiness about their house getting electrified and were excited for starting their online classes amid corona-induced lockdown.
"We used to study in candlelight as our house had no power connection. But now, we will be able to start online classes," they said with beaming faces.
The family claimed that they had earlier knocked at the door of representatives of different political parties but it went in vain. It was only at the time of pandemic-triggered lockdown that their plight came to the fore when school started conducting classes on various digital platforms, TV channels and computers owing to COVID-19 regulations.
Family members said that they had made tremendous attempts in the past to get an electric poll for the power connection but they did not receive any help from the concerned authorities.

Abdurahman, father of the children, said, "Our house was plunged into darkness for the past ten years. The process of electrification became possible after the intervention of Adv K Sivaraman, Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) member and former Youth Commission member.
KPCC member visited the house of Abdurahman with ETV Bharat reporter after which the poor plight of the family came to light.
He went on to add, "Sivaraman reached out to us and enquired as to why our house was not electrified. He made all the necessary arrangements and the process of wiring was completed within a day. It was because of his efforts and attention that our house got electrified, thanking him for the required help.
