Raigad: A forty-year-old woman, who had tested COVID-19 positive, was allegedly raped at a quarantine centre in Panvel. The accused has been arrested.
"There are some COVID-19 positive and suspected patients admitted to the quarantine centre. About 400 of them are admitted there. A lady was among those admitted here and she was allegedly raped. After we came to know about the incident, we reached the spot and arrested the accused," Ravindra Geete, ACP, Panvel Zone-2 said,
Meanwhile, the BJP slammed the Maharashtra government for the alleged rape of a 40-year-old woman and accused it of mismanagement.
"What is the state government doing? These incidents are happening because of the Maharashtra government's mismanagement and negligence. Some quarantine centres are also not providing meals on time," BJP leader Ram Kadam said.

Earlier, a 50-year-old advocate was arrested from Hyderabad for allegedly raping a junior advocate over four years on the pretext of marriage and blackmailing her through her objectionable images.
In a similar incident, a hospital guard was arrested on charges of raping a 15-year-old at the COVID-19 quarantine centre of Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) on July 16. The incident took place on July 8 but the matter came to light on July 16, after the victims’ statement was recorded.
