Ms Divya Gupta, Consultant Nutritionist and Diabetes Educator is recommending how certain foods help in keeping you hydrated and maintain optimum levels of energy. She is sharing the benefits of curd, mangoes, cucumber etc.

With temperature rising, you feel dehydrated and low on energy. Ms Divya Gupta, Consultant Nutritionist and Diabetes Educator is recommending how these foods will help you keep hydrated and maintain optimum levels of energy.

Curd- Curd is a great immunity and digestion booster because of its probiotic nature. It can be consumed in various forms like buttermilk, lassi, raita, etc. You can also sprinkle flaxseed powder for added benefits as flaxseed helps to reduce inflammation.

Mangoes- Mangoes are rich in Vitamin A, B6 , potassium and fibre. Mango has a Low glycemic index ( a figure representing the relative ability of carbohydrates food to increase the level of glucose in the blood) so even the diabetic patients can eat but in moderation, it will not increase their blood sugar level. ( like Half a Mango a day)

People often think that mango leads to weight gain but it is a myth. However, the truth is that mango is loaded with nutrients which helps us to stay healthy. It’s safe to consume, but remember to be eaten in moderation.

Orange, cucumber and mint detox water-Helps you keep hydrated in summers and helps in cleansing your body.

  • Take 1 orange. Cut into thin slices with peel, , lemon slices, cucumber slices ( with or
  • Without peel). you can put mint leaves and also add herbs and spices as well like Cinnamon , saunf (fennel seeds) etc.
  • Place all ingredients in a water jug and let it sit for about an hour or so and enjoy!
  • I curbs your sugar cravings since mint and orange adds sweetness to the water and gives a feeling of satiety.
  • It Helps to increase your metabolism and boost immunity.

Zucchini- helps in increasing heart health and lowering cholesterol. You can make Zucchini cutlets , zucchini vegetable , sauteed zucchini with garlic butter.You can combine zucchini with any vegetable.

Cucumber- it is full of fibre and water. Hence keeps you hydrated and also helps in relieving constipation. Have it in your salads or whenever you feel like munching. Sprinkle some black salt and lime over the cucumber and your snack is ready.

Watermelon- watermelon has high water content and helps you keep hydrated. It has many important nutrients including vitamin C and lycopene. You can also have it in the form of juice or popsicle ( Ice lolly).

Do not skip your meals for watermelon. Have 1 small bowl as a mid morning snack.
