Jammu and Kashmir: Lieutenant Governor Girish Chandra Murmu on Thursday launched the 'Student Health Card' in Jammu as a part of the government's comprehensive school health education plan to ensure better healthcare for school children.

In these Students Health Cards, all government schools will maintain proper health records of enrolled students. The information will include the immunisation record of a child, bi-annual examination of a child, deficiency diseases and developmental delays, head to toe for 4Ds to find out defects at birth, a checklist of all commonly existing disorders among children and their preliminary diagnostic tools.

The distribution of health cards and the first check-up will be completed by mid-May.

Speaking at the occasion, Murmu said parents have to take part in this initiative as they are primary stakeholders besides government, teacher or school.

"Parents play a vital role in the well-being of their children. They make their child aware of diseases such as deadly disease coronavirus as well as various health choices and behaviours like water, sanitation and hygiene," he said.
