New Delhi: The BJP on Saturday said the killers of Kamlesh Tiwari, leader of the Hindu Samaj Party and a former leader of the Hindu Mahasabha, will be arrested and punished soon.
Tiwari was shot dead in broad daylight in Lucknow on Friday.
"The case is being probed. People responsible for the murder would be exposed and punished for the crime soon," BJP national spokesperson Sudesh Verma told ETV Bharat here.
He said three people have already been arrested in this connection and the police would soon reach the culprits.
Verma also expressed grief over the killing and sent condolences to the grieved family of Tiwari.
On why his security was curtailed by the state government, the BJP leader said there's a due process to reduce or increase the security of a person and that is always done by the competent authority.
He also promised all possible help to the family of the deceased.
On being reminded that crime rate in the state was increasing contrary to the claims of the Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh, Verma said crime rate has actually come down and stray incidents don't give the real picture of the situation.
