Kasaragod: Fathimath Shamna, a postgraduate student in Kasaragod district in Kerala, has entered the American Book of Records for finishing 628 courses in just 35 days.
Shamna, who is pursuing her first semester Masters in Business Administration (MBA) at Marambally MES College completed a whopping 628 online diploma courses within 35 days.
Shamna has set this new record for completing the maximum number of courses within the shortest period. The previous record was also set by a Keralite who completed 520 courses in 88 days.
Fathimath Shamna, from Melpparambu F R Manzil, was introduced to the world of online courses during the COVID-19 lockdown period. "Anyone who has the determination can easily learn and complete any course," she said.
Shamna attended the diploma courses on an online learning platform along with her MBA online classes. Shamna completed at least 20 courses every day starting from August 25, 2020.
In the 35 days of learning, by October 30, she completed 628 courses. Shamna initially started with courses to support her MBA degree. Later, she started learning subjects including Science, Mathematics, Health and many different subjects of study.
Shamna had taken up the online diploma courses with the American universities of Michigan, Yale and Georgia. "All support and encouragement came from her father Sherif, who works in Oman, her mother Fousiya and her maternal uncle Fasal- u-Rahman," Shamna said.
