New Delhi: Terming Congress-JD (S) government fall in Karnataka, as "victory of the Indian constitution and democracy", the BJP on Wednesday said the charges of horse-trading against it were baseless.
"I'm amazed that Rahul Gandhi does not see what he did in Karnataka (at the time of formation of government after elections in the state), BJP leader Tom Vadakkan told ETV Bharat, adding that the charges that the Congress was levelling against the BJP could be levelled against it too.
It's a victory of Indian constitution and democarcy," he added.
H D Kumaraswamy-led Congress-JD (S) coalition government lost confidence motion in the state assembly on Tuesday by 99 to 105 votes. Following which Kumaraswamy submitted his resignation to Governor Vajubhai Vala.
On being asked about an open letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi people from different walks of life, the BJP leader said that it was a matter of law and order and the state concernhed must handle it.
"The whole country knows, that Prime Minister and the Home Minister have takled to their ministers (about the issue)...law and order is with the states," he added.
Earlier in the day, a number of prominent people from different walks of life had written to the prime minister urging him to look into the issue of mob lynching and other hate crime and acts that devide the society. In the letter, they reminded Modi how the constitution allows everyone to live in the country with certain rights.
