Mangalore: Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Andhra Pradesh arrested six persons who allegedly conspired to siphon off money from the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister's Relief Fund.
A team of officials from the ACB picked up the six suspects from Dakshina Kannada district. Four of the arrested individuals were identified as Yogesh Acharya (40), Udaya Shetty Kanthavar (35), Mangalore's Brijesh Rai (35) and Gangadhar Suvarna (45).
According to the police, the accused had planned to defraud Rs 117 crore from the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister's Relief Fund. The complaint was lodged at the Andhra Pradesh police station on September 21 by P Muralikrishna Rao, assistant secretary of the Revenue Department of Andhra Pradesh. Taking cognizance of the matter, the government of Andhra Pradesh had directed the Urban Corruption Detective Force to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter.
Speaking to ETV Bharat, Mangalore City Police Assistant Commissioner K U Belliyappa said the Dakshina Kannada police cooperated with the ACB officials of Andhra Pradesh in nabbing the accused.
