Kargil Vijay Diwas: Indian Army displays weapons used during Kargil War

As the nation observed 20th anniversary of Kargil war today, Indian Army displayed weapons used during the war in an exhibition which was organised in Dras military field of Jammu and Kashmir. Army officers also showcased surveillance equipment to civilians and media persons which help to trace the enemy with accuracy and spot them from far distances.

Dras (Jammu and Kashmir): On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of Kargil, Indian Army organised an event in the Dras military field on Friday to showcase the weapons used during the Kargil war in 1999 to defeat Pakistan.

The weapons were exhibited by the military personnel before media and civilians with a detailed elaboration of its functioning.

Indian defence analysts and ex-military officials believe that the Pakistani Army was successful in crossing the border of Dras and Kargil due to reduction in surveillance on the border by the Indian Army.

After three months of war and bloodshed, the Indian Army repatriated the Pakistani Army which claimed the lives of hundreds of soldiers who defended the nation with grit and valour.

After the success of 'Operation Vijay' the Army inducted new surveillance equipment which was also displayed during the exhibition.

Speaking to ETV Bharat, Army officer Ashok Kumar stated that the new technology has improved the combat techniques of the Army and it has proved to be useful in the extreme cold borders of Ladakh.

The weapons are equipped with technologies using radar which helps in spotting the enemy from long distances and the surveillance equipment helps in tracing the enemy by revealing its accurate direction.

On this date in 1999, India successfully took command of the high outposts which had been lost to Pakistan.

Intro:سنہ 1999 میں بھارت اور پاکتسان کے مابین کرگل جنگ میں بھارتی فوج نے جن ہتھیاروں سے کامیابی حاصل کی تھی انکی نمایش اج 'کرگل وجے دوس' کے دوران دراس کے فوجی میدان میں کی گئی۔



Body:فوجی اہلکاروں نے جن ہتھیاروں کا استعمال کیا انہوں ان ہتھیاروں کی خصوصیت تفصیلی طور میڈیا کے سامنے بتائی۔


بھارت کے دفاعی تجزیہ نگاروں اور سابو فوجی افسران کا ماننا تھا کہ پاکستان کی فوج بھارتی فوج کی کرگل سرحد پر سرویلینس میں کمی کے باعث دراس اور کرگل کے سرحدوں کو عبور کرنے میں کامیاب ہوئی تھی، لیکن تین مہینے کے جنگ کے بعد انکو واپس بیجھنے میں کامیاب ہوئی تھی۔

اس ضمن میں فوج نے نئی سرویلنس کے آلات خریدے ہیں جن کو آج کی نمایش کے دوران دکھایا گیا۔

فوجی اہلکار اشوک کمار نے ای ٹی وی بھارت کو بتایا کہ نئی سرویلنس سے فوج دشمن کو دور دن رات دور سے دیکھ سکتی ہیں کہ وہ کون سے حرکت کر رہے ہیں۔

انہوں نے کہا کہ سرویلنس کے نئے آلات لداخ کی سرد سرحدوں میں کافی کار آمد ثابت ہوئی ہے۔

خیال رہے کہ سہ روزہ کرگل وجے دوس کا اج پہلا دن تھا۔ اس دوران فوج مختلف تقریبات منعقد کرتی ہیں، جس میں تہزیبی اور فوج کی طرف سے ہتھاروں کی نمائش بھی شامل ہے۔
