Kannada Development Authority demands to conduct NRA exams in scheduled languages

Kannada Development Authority demanded that National Recruitment Agency examinations should be conducted in scheduled languages of the nation. It also demanded that those candidates who have studied from Class 1 to 10 in any state should be eligible to take up the National Recruitment Agency's examinations in their respective states.

New Delhi: After meeting Union Ministers including the Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Kannada Development Authority on Friday said that they have flagged various demands including their long time expectation that National Recruitment Agency (NRA) examinations should be conducted in scheduled languages of the nation.

Speaking to media, TS Nagabharana, Chairman, KDA said that they have highlighted all the needs of the state to the Center.

"We have been here in Delhi for the past three days. We had met Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Forest and Environment Minister Prakash Javdekar and Human Resources Development Minister Ramesh Pokriyal Nishank. We submitted the 92-page KDA memorandum for the year 2020. The ministers have listened to us and assured that they will take necessary action," he said.

He further said that they urged the FM that it should be mandated that only those candidates who have studied from Class 1 to 10 in any state are eligible to take up the National Recruitment Agency's examinations in their respective states.

"We also demanded that the centralised recruitment system which IBPS is following must be done away with and instead regional level recruitment system must be kept in place. The examination should be held in all the 22 scheduled languages," the KDA chairman added.

Naghabarana stated that they have stressed the Center to implement mother tongue language-based education in primary education.

KDA delegation comprising of poet HS Venkatesha Murthy, Educationalist Gururaja Karajagai, Artist Malavika Avinash, Film Director Prakash Belavadi, Educationalist V P Niranjanaradhya, Kannada writer RN Chandrasekar, Kannada Karmikara Sangagala Okkutta President Siddaiah and KDA secretary K Muralidhara had visited Delhi to meet ministers.
