Lucknow: After recovering from COVID-19, Bollywood singer Kanika Kapoor has decided to donate her plasma for the treatment of others suffering from the deadly disease.
According to sources, Kapoor has decided to donate her plasma to King George's Medical University in Lucknow
Speaking to ETV Bharat over telephone, KGMU's vice-chancellor, Prof MLB Bhatt said, "The information of Kanika Kapoor's plasma donation to our varsity was obtained through some sources. After getting this information, we have contacted her and discussed this matter with her. If Bollywood's famous singer Kanika Kapoor would like to donate her plasma corner to the infected patients, we are welcoming such a decision of her."
Reportedly, Kanika Kapoor returned to her home in Lucknow from city's Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS) after battling Covid-19 for days.
After testing coronavirus-positive for five times in a row, the singer tested negative for the novel coronavirus in her sixth test and was discharged from the hospital, sources said.
Notably, the idea behind this plasma therapy is that immunity can be transferred from a healthy person to a sick patient using convalescent plasma. This therapy uses antibodies from the blood of a cured coronavirus patient to treat another critical patient.
