New Delhi: Members of Delhi Samajwadi Party Student Wing turned up in large numbers at Uttar Pradesh Bhawan here on Monday to protest against the killing of a youth in an alleged encounter by the police in Uttar Pradesh's Jhansi district last week.
The delegation termed the encounter as 'fake' and demanded that the case should be handed over to CBI for further investigation.
Speaking to ETV Bharat, Delhi Samajwadi Party student member Dilip Yadav said that SHO Dharmendra Singh Chauhan and Jhansi SP Sriprakash Dwivedi, who were involved in the case, should be arrested under Section 302.
Yadav said that the way UP government had given a job to Vivek Tiwari's wife, after he was killed by a patrolling constable in an encounter in 2018 in Lucknow, Pushpendra Yadav's wife should also be given a government job.
"There is an alleged collusion between UP government and police, this is the reason why the culprit has not been arrested yet," Yadav added.
Satish Chandra Yadav, general secretary of Jawaharlal Nehru University Student Union, told ETV Bharat that looking at the prevailing situation in Uttar Pradesh, it appears that the Yogi government is “upper-caste dominant” and is sidelining minorities.
He also said that the series of attacks and encounters in the state were mostly on Dalits and minorities.
"Uttar Pradesh government should hold a fair investigation into the case", the general secretary of JNU student union added.
Earlier this week, former chief minister and Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav alleged that police are responsible for the murder of the Yogendra Sharma killed in an encounter and demanded a probe into the incident by a sitting high court judge.
