New Delhi: Prominent Muslim organisation Jamiat Ulema-i-Hind on Monday said that it has completed the reconstruction work of 52 houses which were damaged during the riots that broke out in northeast Delhi in February.
After the northeast Delhi riots, Jamiat Ulema-i-Hind had surveyed the houses and mosques which were burnt down and the organisation had announced to rebuild and repair them.
"Reconstruction work of over 52 houses which were damaged during the northeast Delhi riots has been completed," Jamiat Ulema-i-Hind spokesperson Fazlur Rehman said on Monday.
On Monday, 19 houses in Khajuri Khas, 17 in Karaval Nagar and 16 in houses in Garhi Mahdo have been handed over to their owners, Rehman said.
"In Khajuri Khas itself, the Fatima Masjid had suffered a lot due to a fire. Its repair and decoration has also been completed and now prayers are being performed in it," the spokesperson added.
After the riots, Maulana Arshad Madani, president Jamiat Ulema-i-Hind, had said in a statement that Jamiat Ulema-i-Hind has been carrying out its social duty of helping and rehabilitating people in the affected areas irrespective of religion and caste.
Jamiat Ulema-i-Hind president, Maulana Arshad Madani on Monday said, "It is astonishing that in the country's capital Delhi, killings, looting and arson continued for three consecutive days and law enforcement Agencies kept in deep slumber."

He said if the administration had been vigilant and performed their duty honestly, this horrible riot could have been prevented from spreading to other areas and then there would not have been such a large scale loss of life and property.
"It was planned attack by sectarian elements on Muslim communities in a fearless manner, and they looted shops and burnt houses without any fear. The death toll in the riots is said to be 53 out of which only 13 are non-Muslims. The casualties of the Muslims can be estimated," he added.
Maulana Madani said the government cannot escape the responsibility of planned riots, we have observed a thousand times that riots do not take place but are carried out.
"One thing that is common under all governments is that Muslims are attacked, Muslims are killed, their houses and shops are set on fire and then they are arrested with severe provisions too," the Jamiat president claimed.
Reportedly, fifty-three people, including a policeman and an IB personnel, lost their lives, while hundreds were injured and shops and houses burnt or destroyed in the communal violence that erupted after a series of clashes between pro and anti- Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) protesters in northeast Delhi on 23 February 2020.
