The Union minister for Jal Shakti under Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana has approved the release of funds to carry out water restoration works in Tripura, Mizoram and Maharastra.

New Delhi: Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat on Saturday approved release of funds for various projects under Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana (PMKSY).

The Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat approved funds to carry out water restoration works in Tripura, Mizoram and Maharastra. As per the records, the Minister approved Rs.42.905 crore for these states.

According to the report accessed by ETV Bharat, Shekhawat has approved the first instalment to implement tube wells in seven districts of Tripura.

“Under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY) Har Khet Ko Pani (HKKP) – Groundwater Irrigation (GWI) scheme, the government has approved Rs.8 crore for Tripura and Mizoram. The government will set up 209 tube wells in four divisions of Tripura and seven districts of Mizoram. As this is the first phase about 1445 farmers will benefit with this move,” said in Jal Shakti Ministry’s report.

When asked about the fund for the second phase of works, officials revealed that it will be released once the state governments submit a proposal.

“Once the first phase is completed, the centre will examine the work. Subsequently, the state could submit their second phase works as approved in the detailed project report,” sources said.

Meanwhile, the minister has also approved the release of Shelgaon Barrage Medium Irrigation Project’s reimbursement to Maharashtra.

“The work was carried out by Maharashtra Government at a cost of Rs.36.902 crores. Therefore, the minister has approved the release of the same amount towards reimbursement against expenditure incurred during the financial year 2019-2020,” the report reads.
