Kulgam(Jammu and Kashmir): Seven civilians were injured on Monday when an explosion occurred at a site where a gunfight between security personnel and militants had ended this morning in Lower Munda area of south Kashmir's Kulgam district.
"Seven civilians, including children, have sustained injuries due to an explosion at the gunfight site," a senior police official told ETV Bharat.
He said the operation, in which three militants were gunned down concluded this morning.
"We concluded the operation this morning but had made an announcement in police vehicles asking people not to go near the encounter site till the bomb disposal squad gave a green signal. However, few people went near the site and seven of them were injured due to the explosion," he said, adding, "All injured have been taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, while one has been referred to SKIMS Soura. His condition is stated to be serious."

The gunfight began today morning after the militants attacked a patrolling party of the security forces in the area, 82 km from here.
As the joint team of police, CRPF and Army began a search operation in the area, the hiding militants opened fire on them triggering an encounter. And after a brief gunfight, all three militants were gunned down.
However, Only one body was recovered from the site while the identity and affiliation of the slain militants are being ascertained. The search for the two bodies is still underway by the police.
