Intelligent transport system is badly needed in India: Niti Aayog

Intelligent Transport System and Smart City are necessary for development of India, says Anil Srivastava, Advisor, Infrastructure in Niti Aayog.

New Delhi: Governmnet of India 's think-tank Niti Aayog on Wednesday reiterated that Intelligent Transport System (ITS) is badly needed in India.

In an exclusive interview with ETV Bharat, Anil Srivastava, Advisor for Infrastructurein Niti Aayog said that ITS and Smart City are made for each other in India.

"We are trying to achieve the intelligent transport system as soon as possible in India. ITS is very much needed in India to tackle the ever increasing and rapid transport growth," said Srivastava.

He said that many citicies across India have already started implementing ITS.

Srivastava said that India is also trying to achieve electric mobility."We want to use clean energy for electric mobility and for this we welcome all," said Srivastava.In fact, Niti Aayog has recently asked Chinese companies to invest in India. China is the leading country in the world in the electric mobility sector.Srivastava said that Intelligent transport system and electric mobility both will be beneficial for India.Narendra Modi government had initiated the smart city project where everything will be smarter.

For this centre is also providing financial assistance to the states.
