New Delhi: After the second flight carrying Indians from the coronavirus hit Wuhan province in China reached Delhi on Sunday, Union External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar asserted that India continues to rescue Indians from China.

Speaking at the BJP's south India cell meeting arranged ahead of Delhi elections here, Jaishankar stated India is restlessly working to rescue Indians from the coronavirus hit parts of China.

"Already two plans have reached India. We are still working with China. Indian government is committed to rescuing Indians from China," the EAM said.

He said respect for Indians has increased globally since 2014.

"As I was working with the External Affairs ministry, I have been watching how the world treats India. After 2014 when Modi formed the government, the respect for Indians have gone high," Jaishankar said.

He further claimed the bold and caring government of Modi between 2014 and 2019 was the main reason which attracted him to join the BJP.

"Modi's government is not only a caring government, but it is also a bold government. The government has taken some bold steps like abrogation of Article 370 which was here for more than 70 years," the minister added.

Union Minister Sadananda Gowda who also attended the meeting concurred with the EAM, saying the image of India and Indians has been flourishing across the globe due to PM Modi.

"Before 2014, Indians who were staying in abroad felt embarrassed to address their nation. But, things have changed now. When US wants to take a decision which would make a global impact, the superpower consults with India," Gowda narrated.

BJP leaders from Tamil Nadu including former Union Minister Pon Radhakrishnan and former State Minister Nainar Nagendiran also attended the meeting.
