1. Five states to hold talks over stubble burning
As the harvest season has begun in northwest India, and so has stubble burning, to discuss the issue, Environment Ministers of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan will have a virtual meeting with the Ministry of Environment and Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) today.
2. New traffic rules to come into effect
Amendments to the Motor Vehicle Act, 1989, will come into force from today. Major changes include no physical verification of documents to monitoring the driver's behaviour. According to the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH), changes have been done for better implementation of traffic rules, push digitisation, and prevent harassment of drivers by police officials.
3. RBI's new debit card, credit card rules to be effective from today
In an apparent attempt to make digital payments using debit cards and credit cards more secure, several new guidelines have been issued by Reserve Bank of India (RBI) that will come into effect from today. The RBI had directed all banks to not unnecessarily give international facilities to customers' cards unless the customer himself demands it. The move is aimed to stop increasing fraud transactions using debit and credit cards.
4. India Post to release postcards on Sawantwadi Toys
To mark the occasion of 151 years of postcards in India, Maharashtra Circle of India Post will release picture postcards on 'Sawantwadi Toys' today. The postcard, inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's speech about the country's ability to become a "toy hub", will be released by HC Agrawal, Chief Postmaster General, Maharashtra Circle of India Post. As per a statement by the Ministry of Communications, the online release is set to take place from nine states at 11 am today morning.
5. Andhra Pradesh CM to announce MSP
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy will announce the minimum support price (MSP) for agricultural produce procurement today. Reddy instructed that crops should not be purchased at a price lower than the MSP anywhere in the state, stressing that no farmer should suffer a loss.
