In the wake of rising Covid-19 cases, Punjab Government has imposed additional restrictions in Jalandhar, Ludhiana and Patiala from today till further orders. A spokesperson of the Punjab Government said that on account of the sudden rise in COVID-19 cases in urban areas, it was felt necessary to impose additional restrictions on certain activities in all the cities of the State.

2, Supreme Court to hear plea challenging UGC guidelines of conducting exams in universities/colleges

The Supreme Court will continue hearing the arguments on a batch of pleas challenging the July 6 circular of the UGC mandating to conduct the final term exams by the end of September, today.

3, Plea challenging construction of new Parliament up for hearing today

The Supreme Court will be hearing plea challenging the ambitious Central Vista project in Delhi from today. The Supreme Court had earlier allowed the filing of a fresh plea challenging the June 17 environmental clearance granted to the ambitious Central Vista project, covering the 3-km stretch from Rashtrapati Bhavan to India Gate in Lutyens' Delhi, for constructing a new Parliament House and other government buildings.

Union water resources minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat will hold a meeting with chief ministers of Haryana and Punjab today to work out a solution for the implementation of Supreme Court’s January 15, 2002, and June 4, 2004, orders to complete the remaining portion of the Sutlej-Yamuna Link (SYL) canal by Punjab.
