Chandigarh: Gurupurab, also known as Guru Parv is dedicated to the first Guru of the Sikhs, Guru Nanak Dev who formed the foundation of Sikhism. The day will be celebrated on November 12 as Guru Nanak Jayanti or Guru Nanak Purab.
People in India, as well as in various parts of the world will be celebrating this auspicious day. However this year it is all the more special as 2019 marks the 550th birth anniversary of this Sikh Guru.
Meanwhile, as a tribute to the first of the Sikh Gurus, Principal of the Khalsa College of Patiala, Prof Dharmendra Singh Ubha has written a book, Guru Nanak Dev: Life, Philosophy and Teachings that sheds light on the life of Nanak - along with his philosophy and teachings.
The piece has been published in 15 languages - Punjabi, English, Hindi, Urdu, Tamil, Malayalam, French, German, Spanish to name a few.
Over one lakh copies of the book have been distributed in India as well as other countries while more than five lakh soft copies have been distributed via email and social media.
