Ahmedabad: The ministry of education on August 21 announced the names of teachers from the state to be awarded national honours on September 5 - Teachers' day.
One of the recipients of the prestigious award is Sudha Joshi who will receive Best Teacher award from the President on the upcoming Teacher’s Day.
Serving as a teacher for the last 32 years, Joshi will be receiving the award alongside Mahipalsing Jetavat, a teacher at Tidana Primary School at Muli in Surendranagar and Prakashchandra Suthar, principal of Kanjeli Primary School in Vadali in Sabarkantha.
Talking to ETV Bharat, Joshi said she has been working with the Blindmen’s Association since 1987.
"It was a challenging task to teach blind students. I teach Science and Mathematics which requires a special technique to make the blind students understand the subject. I developed my own special teaching method to teach these difficult subjects to blind students," she said.

Joshi has developed some innovative ways for her own to teach complex academic concepts to the visually-impaired students in a way that they learn easily.
She added that it was a challenge for her when she joined the Blind Men’s association, however, her students too helped her in overcoming the challenge.
Joshi says that today her students are happier about her getting the award than she is and the reason her students love her more is that she has been tutoring them even during holidays in times of examinations.
