"The Congress party could not implement the Assam accord. We have formed a special committee for Assam. We are waiting for the committee's report to make a further roadmap for Assam. "Congress is sloganeering and staging protest in the country. They are trying to divide the country on the basis of religion. Political parties should work towards spreading peace and harmony rather misleading people," he said

He also made it clear that the new law will give citizenship to refugees from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan and will not snatch anyone's Indian nationality.

"No matter what act comes, the Indian citizens will never have any trouble in the country. They need not to worry about anything or for any kind of document. The Indian government will always stand by its citizens," added Reddy.

It is to be noted that protests have intensified in various parts of the country after the Parliament had passed the CAA last week. The Bill became an Act after getting presidential assent.

The CAA grants citizenship to Hindus, Sikhs, Jains, Parsis, Buddhists and Christians fleeing religious persecution from Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh and came to India on or before December 31, 2014.
