Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan said that he has directed FCI to deliver four months of grains to every part of the country to meet the requirements and to transport food grains to inaccessible hilly areas with the help of goats.

New Delhi: Union Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Ram Vilas Paswan said on Sunday that Food Corporation of India (FCI) is undertaking the difficult task of transporting food grains to inaccessible hilly areas of the country. From Pangla Godown in Pithoragarh in Uttarakhand to the inaccessible villages of the Himalayas where even the horses do not reach, there are hillbilly goats delivering grain.

Ram Vilas Paswan has directed the FCI to deliver four months of grain to every part of the country to meet the requirements of food grains under government schemes. The Union Minister has given this instruction to FCI in view of the difficulties arising due to transportation during the rainy season.

Paswan said that on Sunday through a tweet, "The rainy season is commencing. In view of this, the Food and Public Distribution Department and the FCI have instructed that sufficient grains for the next four months reach the mission mode in every part of the country as soon as possible so that there is no shortage of food grains due to transportation problems during the rainy season.

"With the arrival of the monsoon, it has started raining in different parts of the country and during the four months of the rainy season, it is difficult to deliver food especially in the mountainous areas which are not connected by rail and road.
