New Delhi: With India's smart city mission getting an overwhelming response on global platforms, officials engaged with the mission are all set to take it to the next level.
Speaking to ETV Bharat, Kunal Kumar, Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) said, "The Japanese minister visited us shortly and they were inspired by our smart city mission implementation. In fact, they took our help in launching the super city initiative."
Many other countries like France, Germany, UK, US, Singapore are collaborating with India's smart city mission. Kunal Kumar who is also India's Smart City Mission in-charge said, "We are collaborating with French as well as the German government."
He said that Indian cities are gearing up for an engine of change as far as climate mitigation is concerned. He said that Russian companies are also interested to work in IOT and ICT initiatives.
Ever since the Smart City mission was launched in India on June 25, 2015, the ministry is closely working with all stakeholders to implement the mission.
"It was challenging progress. Real work started in 2016. We had started with 5151 projects with a total amount of Rs 2105000 crore," informed Kumar.
Tendering of 3900 projects with 89,000 crore work has already been ordered. The joint secretary said that his ministry has also taken data initiatives.
"We have created India urban data exchange. We have created ease of living index, performance index for a remarkable breakthrough," said Kumar.
