China, Pakistan behind farmers' protest: Union Minister Danve 

Union Minister Raosaheb Danve claimed that China and Pakistan were behind the ongoing protests by farmers, who are seeking repeal of three new farm laws.

Danve was speaking at the inauguration of a health centre at Kolte Takli in Badnapur taluka of Maharashtra's Jalna district. 

"The agitation that is going on is not that of farmers. China and Pakistan have a hand behind this," he said.

Rejection of Centre's proposal by farmers 'unfortunate': Punjab BJP chief

Punjab BJP chief Ashwani Sharma dubbed the farmers' decision to reject the Centre's proposal to amend the new farm laws as "unfortunate".

He urged the protesting farmers to review their decision.

"It was unfortunate that farmer leaders have rejected the proposed amendments to the three agriculture bills," Sharma said in a statement here.

He said the Centre has addressed all the major concerns about the minimum support price (MSP) and the mandi system in the proposed amendments which the farmers should accept with grace.

New farm laws meant for welfare of farmers: Uttarakhand BJP chief

The Uttarakhand BJP accused opposition parties of instigating farmers against the Centre for political gains and said the new Agri laws were meant for the welfare of the farming community.

Pradesh BJP president Bansidhar Bhagat said the MSP regime will continue, the monopoly of middlemen will come to an end and farmers will have the freedom of selling their produce in the market of their choice.

Addressing a press conference, Farmer leader Shiv Kumar Kakka said protesting farmers might take a call on crossing Singhu border to enter Delhi in coming days.

He also said that farmers will block Agra-Delhi Expressway on December 12 and no tax will be paid on that day at any toll plaza in country. Further threatening to intensify protests, he said that district headquarters in states will be gheraoed on December 14.

In an attempt to "further strengthen" the ongoing agitation against the three recently enacted farm laws, the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) workers are providing free fuel at a petrol pump on Delhi-Amritsar National Highway to farmers heading for the national capital.

Josh Singh Samra, Core Committee Member of Youth Akali Dal said everyone should unite and support the farmers who are opposing the farm laws. 

"This is a matter concerning not just a particular party or group," he said.

Hanan Mollah, General Secretary of All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS), said that there was nothing new in the government's proposal.

The government is offering the same thing they said during the five-round of talks. So we have decided that if the government is not giving any heed to our demands, we will block more highways and more protests will be seen across the country in the coming days."

Farmer Unions have also given a call to boycott the products and services of big corporates like Reliance Industries and Adani.

Leaders have also appealed people not to buy Jio sim cards and rather opt for government's entity BSNL.

After meeting the President, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said, "We informed the President that it is absolutely critical that these anti-farmer laws are taken back."

Written assurance of MSP among key points of draft proposal sent by Centre 

The government on Wednesday proposed to give a "written assurance" that the existing Minimum Support Price (MSP) regime for procurement will continue. The government also proposed to make necessary amendments on at least seven issues, including one to allay fears about the weakening of the mandi system.

The meeting between Union Home minister Amit Shah and farmer leaders failed following which the sixth round of talks with the government was cancelled. Leaving the meeting, farmer leaders said the government will send a proposal for their consideration, which will be discussed at a noon meeting at the Sindhu border on Wednesday. 

"The minister has said that a proposal will be given to the farmer leaders. Meeting With Home Minister remained inconclusive

New Delhi:  The meeting between a delegation of farmers' leaders and Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday failed to reach any agreement, as the government refused outright to repeal the three farm laws and only offered amendments, according to a participant.

As many as 13 farmer leaders were present in the meeting held at National Agricultural Science complex Pusa in Delhi and the discussion between Farmer leaders and the Home minister went on for more than 2 hours.

 All Indian Kisan Sabha General Secretary Hanan Mollah expressed disappointment after the meeting as a solution could not be carved out and said that the government only offered to carry out certain amendments.

 “Nothing new happened in this meeting as the government continues to count on the benefits of these farm laws for farmers.  

Our clear demand is to repeal these laws but the government is only offering amendments.  

"The government said it will give a proposal to the farmers tomorrow (Wednesday) morning. Till the government gives us in writing that the laws will be rolled back, there is no point in coming for the meeting," he told reporters.

The next round of talks between the farmers' leaders and the government is scheduled on Wednesday.

A meeting of the farmers' union leaders would be held on the Singhu border at 12 noon on Wednesday to decide the way ahead.

The meeting on Tuesday was delayed as differences emerged between the farmers' leaders over the venue.

According to sources, the meeting slated for 7 p.m. at Amit Shah's residence could not take place as farmers' leaders, save Rakesh Tikait of the BKU, did not reach there.

Later, sources within the farmers' unions said that the leaders did not want to go to the Home Minister's residence and sought another venue, after which they were asked to move to the PUSA Institute.

The farmers, before heading for the meeting, claimed that the nationwide Bharat Bandh called by them on Tuesday was successful and the people supported their cause even as the shutdown evoked a mixed response across the country.
