New Delhi: Demonstrations in protest against the agricultural ordinances are continuing across the country. On the third day of the monsoon session of Parliament today, leaders and activists of the Rashtriya Kisan Mahasangh reached Jantar Mantar to protest against the ordinances. As no major protests are allowed due to the threat of corona infection, only a small delegation of the Rashtriya Kisan Mahasangh representing over 108 farmer organizations reached Jantar Mantar under the leadership of National President Shiv Kumar Sharma. However, the police did not allow them to stage a sit-in here as well and all the protesters were taken into custody.

Facing opposition from the opposition on agricultural ordinances, farmers' organizations across the country have also stood up against the Modi government. However, the government is constantly trying to reassure the farmers that the three ordinances are beneficial for the agriculture sector and farmers. Some experts have also said that farmers need to understand this, but in spite of all this, the government is unable to build trust among the farmers' organizations. The Rashtriya Kisan Mahasangh is a group of more than one hundred farmer unions associated with almost all the states of the country.

Speaking exclusively to ETV Bharat, Rashtriya Kisan Mahasangh National President, Shivkumar Sharma 'Kakaji', said that no matter what the government says, these three bills are a direct means to handover agriculture directly to private companies. If these will prove to be equally beneficial for the farmer, then why was the matter not discussed with the farmers before bringing these ordinances. The government should have discussed with the farmers' associations and it should have been made clear what provisions have been put in place to ensure that nothing will go wrong with the farmers.

Speaking on the system of MSP, Shiv Kumar said that already farmers in the country did not get the price of the crop according to the fixed MSP. After these laws, the government is going to abolish the MSP. The farmer leader further said that it is possible that the Modi government has the strength and will be able to pass these bills in the house and make a law, but the farmers of the country have already rejected all the three bills and now even if it is passed in the Parliament, but the farmers will fail them on the road.
